NJ: Legislators Getting Closer to Abolishing Death Penalty

Couple of questions – what is life in prison, and really how much time will a murderer actually serve in New Jersey? Once you take the ultimate penalty off the table, where’s the deterrent exactly for killing somebody in cold blood?

TRENTON Legislators moved closer to abolishing the death penalty in New Jersey Monday and replacing it with life in prison without parole.The Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee approved a bill to end capital punishment and send it for a full Senate vote. Legislative leaders are pushing for a vote in both houses before the session ends Jan. 7.
