Locally, a predatory lending scheme under investigation by the FBI and Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal has allegedly contributed to the crisis. Dozens of homeowners in New London, Norwich and Waterford were approved, based on false information, for home loans they couldn’t afford and are now facing foreclosure.
