“Paul Morrison has made the right decision by stepping down from office,” said Kris Kobach, chairman of the Kansas Republican Party. “Now the attention must shift to Gov. Sebelius. It must be remembered that Gov. Sebelius hand-picked Paul Morrison to run for attorney general as a Democrat in 2006.”
Morrison resigned Friday after a story published in Sunday’s editions of The Topeka Capital-Journal detailed an extramarital affair he had with Linda Carter, who had been director of administration in the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office. Morrison confirmed he had a consensual relationship with his former employee, but said he had done nothing illegal.
