Facing a possible lawsuit from the state, a New Orleans company has agreed to stop selling health insurance policies here, Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley said.
Coakley’s office accused Pan-American Life Insurance Co. of launching an “advertising blitz” in local newspapers to sell unapproved health insurance policies in Massachusetts. Under state law, insurance companies are required to gain approval before selling health insurance to individuals or groups of 50 or fewer people.
