JACKSON – Attorney General Jim Hood is asking Gov. Haley Barbour to join him in court action to determine the special election date to fill the U.S. Senate vacancy being left by Trent Lott.
In November, Lott announced he will retire from the Senate this month in the first year of his fourth six-year term.
Disagreement has arisen over when a special election would be held to replace Lott.
