WV: Feds Want Money From AG’s Settlement

Federal officials have again threatened to withhold Medicaid funds from West Virginia over the state’s handling of a lawsuit settlement.

Attorney General Darrell McGraw, who negotiated the 2004 deal that yielded the state $850,000, plans to appeal the decision by the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

“We absolutely disagree with their point of view for a whole host of reasons,” Managing Deputy Attorney General Barbara Allen said Tuesday. “We do not believe this disallowance is proper.”
