“This area is at risk because two big parks are at risk.” Smells like somebody’s throwing a bone to an interest group to beef up their green credentials. It would be rather embarrassing if the AGs office was found to have no standing in this matter.
BANNER – Bolstered by the interest of the Illinois Attorney General’s Office in a proposed mining operation’s permit, Banner residents and conservationists continue to fight a strip mine they say will cause irreversible problems to their water supply and area wetlands.
“This area is at risk because two big parks are at risk,” Lizanne Gray, a volunteer with The Nature Conservancy and Audubon Society, said at a news conference Thursday in Banner.
