HARRISBURG | – Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli launched his third bid to become the state’s first Democratic attorney general Wednesday. He vowed, if elected, to appoint an independent prosecutor to investigate the millions of dollars in bonuses paid to legislative employees in 2006.
At a Capitol news conference, Morganelli said the so-called ”Bonusgate” investigation by Attorney General Tom Corbett, a Republican, had been compromised by Corbett’s close ties to former Republican Senate leaders who had authorized some of the payments and supported Corbett’s first run for attorney general in 2004.
