No one said they had to solve the problem, just come up with some recommendations. Fun.
ATLANTA —
A state transportation committee recommended Wednesday that the Legislature adopt a new tax scheme to fund transportation improvements, but it failed to endorse either of two competing proposals to do so.Instead, the study committee recommended lawmakers introduce both plans: One that calls for a 1 percent statewide sales tax hike and another that would allow multiple counties to band together and levy their own taxes to fund transportation projects in their districts.
