AT&T plans to lay off about 200 people in Connecticut and move the work to other states, but the union is fighting back, and the attorney general has stepped in on their behalf. In a letter, Richard Blumenthal asked Gov. M. Jodi Rell to meet with representatives from Local 1298 of the Communications Workers of America.”I urge respectfully that you listen to their perspective and take necessary steps to preserve these jobs,” Blumenthal wrote. “Governors have succeeded in reversing such decisions, as with a similar proposed job cut in Massachusetts, apparently rescinded after intervention by Governor Romney.”
