Attention Marc Dann donors – he spent $33,500 of the dollars you gave to his campaign to install a security system at his home. Hello? Is anybody home? How is this a legitimate campaign expense? Unless Marc Dann’s slightly abrasive campaign style requires him to have a security system installed – isn’t this just a little bit wrong? Why on earth would anybody give this guy money for his campaign account if all he’s going to do is use it to improve his home. Who knows, maybe that’s what happens when you get flown around on a private plane to raise money in $10,000 chunks – you kind of lose touch with reality.
Ohio’s five statewide nonjudicial officials won’t face voters for almost three years, but they still hit up campaign contributors for nearly $1.3 million last year, a Dispatch analysis of campaign-finance reports shows.More than a quarter of that cash flowed from out-of-state sources, including more than $335,000 to Gov. Ted Strickland and Attorney General Marc Dann.
