Shocking and sick. And not the first time someone who’s state job is working closely with kids has been caught victimizing those same kids. A word to America’s state and local officials – child predators like to hunt where kids are – not just playgrounds and parks – anywhere kids are in concentrated, vulnerable, or captive. You drug test people who handle drugs and police evidence. You check the mental stability of people who carry weapons to protect citizens. Doesn’t it make sense to check out folks who are working closely with kids?
Shocked by the arrest of its top spokesman on child-pornography charges, the Florida Department of Children and Families will implement new safeguards to protect its young clients, DCF Secretary Bob Butterworth announced Monday. The agency will search through personnel records of its 13,500 employees for “red flags” and ensure that each worker has been fingerprinted and had a background check conducted.
