Sen. Roy P. Dyson (D-St. Mary’s) has introduced legislation requiring the Maryland attorney general’s office to determine whether nonprofit organizations are violating the law by operating slot machines in restaurants, bars or other establishments.Dyson said the number of video-gaming devices in restaurants and bars is rising quickly, and he estimated that about 1,000 slot machines are operating in St. Mary’s County alone.
