WAILUKU — A judge has ordered the state and the Hawaii Superferry to pay approximately $100,000 in legal fees to Wailuku attorney Isaac Hall.
Hall has represented Maui Tomorrow, the Sierra Club and the Kahului Harbor Coalition in their lengthy case contesting the state Department of Transportation’s decision to waive an environmental assessment for $40 million in ferry-related improvements at Kahului Harbor. The Hawaii Supreme Court agreed with the environmental groups, and the Superferry was at legal anchor for months last year until the state Legislature passed Act 2, a law to allow the ferry to continue interisland trips while an environmental review is conducted.
