Missouri’s share of a multi-state settlement with a pharmaceutical company over efforts to keep a generic drug off the market will be used to fund future legal actions to protect consumers, Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon’s office has announced.
Missouri will receive $200,000 as part of a $5.9 million settlement of a civil action against Barr Pharmaceutical. The lawsuit, joined by 33 other states and the District of Columbia, charged Barr Pharmaceutical and another pharmaceutical company, Warner Chilcott, with antitrust violations that prevented generic versions of Ovcon, a prescription oral contraceptive, from reaching the marketplace.
