We think that Texas politics are some of the most underrated, and under appreciated in the country. At times like this it almost borders on non-partisan. Great theater, and worthy of it’s own class in politics at a university.
Is it safe to be a Craddick D in 2009?Tuesday’s primary results favored Speaker Tom Craddick, the Midland Republican whose leadership of the Texas House has been under siege by both Republican and Democratic House members who twice last year rebelled against his tight control of the legislative agenda.
In tennis terms, Craddick’s allies largely held serve among GOP incumbents pledged to Craddick and scored points on the Democratic side. Four of five so-called Craddick D’s won and three of his Democratic opponents were defeated.
“What happened last night strengthened the speaker’s position,” said Alexis DeLee, Craddick’s press secretary. “We’re happy.”
