Frankfort – The biggest anti-casino rally yet this session filled the Capitol Rotunda on Wednesday.A group of about 500-600 people, including many children, held signs and cheered ministers, lawmakers and others who spoke against Gov. Steve Beshear’s plan to amend the constitution to allow up to nine casinos.
The Rev. Jeff Fugate, minister of Clays Mill Road Baptist Church in Lexington, organized the rally.
Sometimes controversial but popular Fugate, who has also spoken against gays and non-Christian immigrants, urged lawmakers to send the message to young people “to work hard … live within your means.”
