The panel yesterday hosted a public hearing on the “gasoline transparency” proposal by state Attorney General Richard Blumenthal and state Rep. William Tong, D-Stamford, that would require big oil companies on down to local stations to file detailed shipping, pricing and sales data with Blumenthal by Aug. 1.The data would cover February and June 2007 and February and June 2008.
The bill grew out of Tong’s frustration last year over the big-oil commissioned study by three Quinnipiac University economics professors used to sink his proposed ban on zone pricing.
