The controversial paid family leave bill—which could be considered for final passage next week—just got more controversial. State Attorney General Anne Milgram says the ambiguous language in part of the bill leaves small business susceptible to wrongful termination lawsuits if they fire employees who use the leave, according to a letter by Milgram that was obtained by NJBIZ.
Milgram said the issue can be fixed if the Legislature adds language to the bill that explicitly states workers cannot sue a small employer “for the failure or refusal” to rehire them after using paid family leave.
