Boy, nothing beats a bi-partisan vote of no confidence. Even for New Jersey – this is a big deal.
But Sen. Bob Smith, D-Middlesex and Somerset, who led yesterday’s hearing, and Sen. Paul Sarlo, D-Bergen, said Attorney General Anne Milgram should decide for herself whether she can investigate EnCap.The EnCap project, which is to include a golf course and2,600 homes in Lyndhurst and Rutherford, has benefited from $315 million in low- and no-interest loans from the state and Bergen County.
It has been plagued by cost overruns, delays and environmental violations almost since its 2004 groundbreaking.
A spokesman said yesterday EnCap will cooperate with any investigation, and while the company made mistakes it did not deliberately mislead anyone.
