Is Doug Gansler Able To Run For MD AG? Still Developing…

The Associated Press Reports:

“An Anne Arundel County circuit court judge will hear arguments Wednesday morning in a case that challenges Montgomery County State's Attorney Douglas Gansler's eligibility to run for state attorney general.

The suit questions whether the Democrat has practiced law in Maryland for the required ten years.

Gansler dismisses the challenge as “frivolous.” He has been state's attorney in Montgomery for eight years and a member of the bar in Maryland 17.

A spokesman for Gansler's Republican rival for the job, Scott Rolle, says the candidate is not involved in the suit. But Rolle's campaign manager, Jason Shoemaker, is the attorney for Nikos Liddy, the Bowie man who brought the case.

In August, the Maryland Court of Appeals ruled that Montgomery County Councilman Tom Perez could not seek the Democratic nomination because he had not fulfilled the same requirement for attorney general candidates.”
