Here’s another headline option: MA AG Tells Consumers To Use A Little Commonsense When Shopping For Car Insurance. We bet the Democrat A.G. won’t be getting a Festivus card from the state insurance commissioner. Of course it being Festivus – maybe they will send a card as part of the traditional airing of grievances. It could be a Festivus miracle!
“Today marks the first time in many years that consumers have had to shop around for the best insurance rates,” Coakley said. “Without easily accessible and truly comparative information, based on individual drivers and their needs, consumers will find it difficult to make informed decisions. The lack of transparency will impede the goals of competition — lower prices and more options for consumers.”
Coakley said she is specifically concerned about the following features of the Web site, which she considers misleading:
The “Reported Sample Premiums:” The Web site does not calculate rates for the average consumer. Currently, the Web site is offering “sample premiums” based on only a limited number of criteria, such as zip code, years licensed, car make and model, miles driven and driving record. These criteria are further limited by only allowing consumers to choose from a small sample of vehicle models, broad ranges of number of years of driving experience, and very limited options for the levels of coverage.
Wicked Seinfeld reference. Mahtha Coakley must love that type of consumer price fixing they have in Cuba.
Hey, it’s never too early for a Festivus reference…only eight months and change until we get the aluminum poles out, folks!
Thanks for writing this.
