PORTSMOUTH — Sexual Assault Support Services kicked off a month of awareness Tuesday night with the premier of a new outreach video featuring Attorney General Kelly Ayotte, community members and survivors.

The statistics about sexual violence are startling — one out of every three women and one out of every six men is a victim of sexual assault — but talking about the issue isn’t always easy.

“We are showing the video to get people psyched about Sexual Assault Awareness month,” SASS Development Director Olivia Nold said. “Psyched that we have a community that is responsive and open minded to events like this. We have confidence that people are going to come out for our community.”

Eleven-year old Harrison Collins was one young community member who jumped at the opportunity to be involved and was featured in the video. Collins is not a survivor, but is a young male who has been educated about how to keep himself safe through SASS education programs.
