A Dallas fight promoter must stop staging unregulated boxing matches under a temporary restraining order signed by a Travis County judge Thursday.
Republican Attorney General Greg Abbott sought the restraining order against Ben Jackson, who promotes X-treme Fight Night events in bars.
Mr. Jackson could not be reached for comment.
Contestants, recruited from bar customers, have little or no training and are encouraged to participate in the dangerous fights, according to a news release from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, which regulates combative sports in Texas.
