An Internet surfer searching for “child porn” on YouTube may be surprised to find one of the Utah Attorney General’s videos in the mix. Instead of finding a video of victimized children, they will get an unsubtle reminder that their perversion is illegal. The attorney general’s video shows a band of black-jacketed Internet Crimes Against Children task force officers arresting a suspected child pornography possessor.
The YouTube videos are one aspect of the attorney general’s new beefed-up Web site, scheduled to be launched in the coming weeks.
The video postings are part media relations, part crime prevention. Officials say the in-house video recordings of arrests will be made available to the news media who, for reasons of security or availability, could not be there to record the arrests themselves. They hope they will also be found by potential criminals searching for child pornography.
