No surprise here – Arizona Democrats want to make the state legislature a battleground for state legislative races.
Gov. Janet Napolitano said the Arizona Democratic Party has made good progress securing additional seats in Congress and the state Legislature, and challenged members of her party to secure even more come November.Napolitano issued the challenge to an audience of more than 500 at the party’s state convention Saturday in Phoenix.
All 90 state legislative seats are in play, and Democrats hope to take back the House for the first time since 1966. In Congress, Democrats hope to hold on to four districts and pick up two or three more.
Perhaps the most anticipated event was the selection of the last two of Arizona’s 11 superdelegates, who are free to vote for the candidate of their choice at the national convention.
