A dozen attorneys around the state who may have received credits for state pensions improperly but did not actually collect any money have been offered preliminary settlements by Attorney General Andrew Cuomo’s office, according to several attorneys familiar with the situation.
The settlement offers include the payment of financial penalties, possibly amounting to tens of thousands of dollars, along with various agreements about conditions of future work for school districts or other governmental agencies, according to the sources
The possible conditions, according to the sources, range from a permanent bar on such work; a bar for a period of time; or allowing future work with an accurate description of the relationship the lawyer has with the district or agency.
