South Dakota’s Republican A.G. Larry Long will get the job done right.
Now that the 2008 version of an abortion ban has been certified to be before the voters in the fall general election, it becomes the job of Attorney General Larry Long’s office to write the official explanation of the issue for the ballot.Long said he is conscious of the political atmosphere surrounding the issue.
“The last thing I want is to get hauled into court and have the judge tell me I didn’t do a decent job of writing the ballot explanation. I don’t look forward to that,” Long said. “So we work hard at trying to get it right.”
He said the procedure calls for the attorney general to write a neutral ballot explanation.
“That’s our charge, and we will endeavor to do that,” Long said.
