And the lesson from this story boys and girls, is that it’s a-ok to lie to the police, cover your actions, and act like an all around scumbag. Hmm, public officials circumventing the law in Ohio. An interesting trend. From the Cleveland Plain Dealer:
Columbus- Former State Rep. Matthew Barrett will not face criminal charges for lying to police about whether he knew women who appeared semi-nude on a flash drive he used during a high school government class presentation.
Norwalk Law Director Stu O’Hara said a special prosecutor has decided not to bring criminal charges against the former Democratic lawmaker from Amherst for lying to police about aspects of the Oct. 2 incident at Norwalk High School.
“There wasn’t sufficient evi- dence to rise to the level of a criminal of fense,” said O’Hara, who had handed off the investigation to Tom Stier walt, a Sandusky County prosecutor, because of a possible conflict of interest.
