House seeks reports before seeking impeachment.
From the Toledo Blade:
COLUMBUS – The march toward impeachment of Attorney General Marc Dann appears to have slowed to a crawl.
House Speaker Jon Husted (R., Kettering) said yesterday he would prefer that an independent investigation of Mr. Dann’s office be conducted first to guide the chamber as it considers whether to make him the first statewide officeholder subjected to Ohio impeachment.
“We are not a body that is presently configured to conduct an investigation,” Mr. Husted said. “To move forward with any impeachment process, we would need to have access to reports and investigations. There are other people who are better prepared to do this than the House.”
Mr. Dann – a Democrat – on Friday admitted to an extramarital affair with an employee of his office and said he feared that may have contributed to an atmosphere that led to the alleged sexual harassment of two other employees by one of his top aides, Anthony Gutierrez.
