Last week, Facebook, the second-largest social networking Web site on the Internet, announced it was adding more than 40 safeguards in response to concerns about cyber-bullying and pedophiles using the site to stalk children.
The measures include banning convicted sex offenders from the site, limiting the ability of adult users to contact subscribers under 18 and removing groups that feature inappropriate content. The company also agreed to join a task force to find ways to better verify users’ ages and identities.
Attorneys general from 49 states — including Delaware — and the District of Columbia had been pressing Facebook, which has about 70 million users, to make the changes.
