From PJStar.com:
Getting rid of the “reverse auction” process that led to soaring electricity prices for Illinois consumers last year turned out to be a smart move, Attorney General Lisa Madigan’s office says.
And consumers will reap the benefit because they will be paying less for wholesale electricity starting in June, said Susan Hedman, senior assistant attorney general.
But it’s unclear whether customers of Ameren, which covers much of downstate, or Chicago-based Commonwealth Edison will see a drop in their overall power bills in the long run.
The cost of electricity represents just a portion of the total amount that consumers are billed. The other main piece, which makes up roughly one-third of the total bill, is the delivery-rate charge.
