State and local Democrat will be scratching their heads when the much hyped gains they’ve boasted about for so long fail to materialize after this year’s elections. We’ll tell you more on why later. From JS Online:
But Mark Jefferson, executive director of the state Republican Party, predicted the GOP will keep control and added, “I think we have an opportunity to pick up between one and three seats.”
Assembly Republicans picked up seats in the 1990s in elections won by popular national Democrats such as former President Clinton and U.S. Sens. Russ Feingold and Herb Kohl, Jefferson said.
The GOP is also shooting to pick up the two seats necessary to regain the Senate, with officials saying nominee-to-be John McCain’s appeal with independents could boost chances down the ticket.
