From the Argus Leader:
The heated presidential contest in South Dakota’s last-in-the-nation primary is energizing candidates and voters alike locally, political officials in Sioux Falls say.
The June 3 ballot includes only a couple of legislative primary contests for each major political party in Minnehaha County, but the Democrats’ presidential campaign has excitement falling down the ticket, county Republican Chairman Drake Olson and county Democratic vice chairwoman Elaine Roberts agree.
The Barack Obama-Hillary Clinton contest for the Democratic presidential nomination gives Republicans a reason to get involved, Olson said.
“They see the commercials the Democrats are running, and it builds a greater interest in supporting the Republican ticket,” he said.
