From the Press Democrat:
When David Rabbitt opened his mailbox Wednesday, evidence of the campaign war for state Senate spilled into his arms, one unflattering hit piece at a time.
Supporters of former Assemblyman Joe Nation were accusing his rivals, Assemblyman Mark Leno and incumbent Sen. Carole Migden, of being in the pockets of tribes with Indian casinos.
Leno fired back, saying Nation was taking money from pharmaceutical companies and lawyers bent on protecting greedy corporations.
Rabbitt, a member of the Petaluma City Council and no stranger to political campaigns, said it’s obvious from the number of mailers and ferocity of the rhetoric that the race, which already has brought in $3 million in contributions, was reaching a crescendo.
