2007 has the potential to be a big year for Republicans in Louisiana. The Democrat held Governor and Attorney General offices are in play and widely viewed as vulnerable by Republicans and Democrats alike.
Even more interesting are the Democrat held state House and Senate – both of which are in play this year, with the House exceedingly so. Republicans have not controlled both chambers in the Louisiana state legislature since the end of Reconstruction – that may be about to change.
Check out this thorough and long overview from the New Orleans Times Picayune which dissects the how and why Republicans can capture one or both legislative chambers.
Might be time to light those hurricane lamps.
