From the OCRegister:
SACRAMENTO Big leads marked the early returns in Orange County’s legislative races late Tuesday.
Assemblywoman Mimi Walters appeared to be handily beating Anaheim City Councilman Harry Sidhu in the most watched legislative race in Orange County, the GOP primary for the 33rd state Senate District.
“I feel very confident that I’ve won,” Walters said.
In another closely watched election, Corona Mayor Jeff Miller was beating Rancho Santa Margarita Mayor Neil Blais in the Republican primary for the 71st Assembly District. The 71st includes parts of both Riverside and Orange counties, but has been represented by an Orange County resident for years. GOP insiders were eager to continue the county’s dominance over the district.
