From Legal News Line:
Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning has said that petition circulators don’t have a right to remain on private property if asked to leave.
In a legal opinion released Friday, the Republican said private property owners have a right to restrict who comes on their property.
“The initiative process is an important tool for Nebraskans, but both sides need to act within the confines of the law,” Bruning said.
In a statement, Bruning said his office has received numerous complaints from residents and businesses about petition circulators who are trying to get signatures by the July 4 deadline so issues can qualify for the November ballot.
