OR AG Race: Dem Nominee Runs as Republican as Well

How come John Kroger gets the nomination – if he gets the nomination we’ll all get the nomination – it’ll be anarchy!  From the Gazette Times:

Democrat John Kroger will be running as a Republican, as well, in what will be not much of a race for Oregon attorney general.

The state Elections Division says he’s won — by a wide margin — the write-in vote for the Republican nomination for attorney general. No GOP candidate filed for the office.

And Kroger says he’ll accept the nomination, so that no Republican will appear on the ballot.

When ballots were counted May 20 in the primary election, Kroger came in ahead of his Democratic opponent, Rep. Greg Macpherson of Lake Oswego. That was in the Democratic primary.

He topped Macpherson in the Republican primary, as well, the state Elections Division said Thursday in announcing the official results.

He even came in ahead of such well-known Republicans as Kevin Mannix and Ron Saxton, both former governor candidates.

The tally: Kroger: 2,885; Macpherson: 1,391; Saxton: 883; Mannix: 317.
