No news here folks, move along. Unions can expect a warm reception every time they enter the Rhodes Building…ho hum. Or, wow – even unchallenged, labor wants to make sure they have an in with the next A.G. From the Dispatch.com:
Even though he has no major-party opponent at this point, state Treasurer Richard Cordray can expect a generous helping of support from Ohio’s labor unions in his run for attorney general, the unions said today.
Cordray, a Democrat, secured the endorsements of the AFL-CIO, the Teamsters and the United Auto Workers this morning.
Although the unions will be working to get Sen. Barack Obama elected president in the same election, they’ll give Cordray equal billing, said Joe Rugola, Ohio AFL-CIO president. The union also will work to put the Ohio House in Democratic hands, he said.
The major labor unions have long supported Cordray and felt no need to wait for his Republican opponent to emerge, Rugola said.
“Richard Cordray will bring to the attorney general’s office what we really desperately need right now, which is intelligence, integrity and a love for America and Ohio which I really believe is unparalleled in public service,” he said.
