From PrimeBuzz:
This is an apology to our readers. And a correction. And a bit of a whine.
A bit earlier today on Prime Buzz you could see The National Council of La Raza endorsing Chris Koster for Missouri AG. The information came from a release from his campaign.
And the announcement is accompanied by a quote from local chapter president Lali Garcia, in which she praises his experience in Cass County and his “sincere commitment to the issues that matter most to the next generation of Latino Missourians, are the reasons that La Raza is proud to endorse Chris Koster for attorney general.”
Quite a nice endorsement for Koster. At least it would be, if it were true. Apparently, while Garcia’s group does endorse Koster, it’s not the nationally known La Raza. Instead, it’s a local group of a similar name.
After the post went up, our writer, Jason Noble, got a call from The National Council of La Raza, which is based in Washington DC. Cecilia Munoz, their senior vice president for policy, noted that La Raza does not endorse candidates.
They also, she explained, do not have local chapters, such as the one that apparently endorsed Koster. They do have local affiliates, she conceded. They, by policy, are not allowed to endorse candidates, either.
