From the Politics Blog:
Attorney General Jay Nixon’s campaign released a statement this afternoon reiterating that he is not picking a side in the race to Democratic primary for his current job.
The statement is in response to an ad from state Rep. Jeff Harris, D-Columbia, which prominently uses a Nixon quote from a 2007 Tribune article stating that the three-term lawmaker would make a “super attorney general.”
“We have three strong candidates in the Democratic primary race for Attorney General. I am not endorsing any one candidate over the others,” Nixon said in a statement. “I have known Margaret Donnelly since 1988. During those 20 years she has been a champion for Missouri families. Missouri would be lucky to have Margaret Donnelly as its next Attorney General. Chris Koster has served the people of Missouri for many years and has a long record as a prosecutor. This experience would serve him well as Attorney General.”
Evidently, Nixon does not seem to think that Molly Williams of Kansas City is a strong contender in the race.
