Question of the day, and into tomorrow evening, does Chris Koster survive the onslaught that focused on him in the Democrat A.G. primary battle? He must contend with attacks from his two primary opponents, as well as an independent group that is funded largely by his ex-wife (Kind of reminds us of War of the Roses). Regardless of the outcome, we know that Michael Gibbons is ready for whatever the Democrat primary spits out. From STLtoday:
With Tuesday’s primary elections looming, Missouri candidates and their allies are going into overdrive with a frenzied flurry of attack ads and robo-calls.
As of Friday, contenders for statewide or congressional spots were spending roughly $300,000 a day on TV ads alone.
That’s up 50 percent from just a week ago, according to tallies by TNSMI-Campaign Media Analysis Group, a nonpartisan firm tracking TV ad spending for the Post-Dispatch.
The bulk of the final round of TV ad buys are on St. Louis TV stations, which reach at least 40 percent of Missouri voters.
Many of the TV ads refer to endorsements by the Post-Dispatch and other news outlets, or include quotes purportedly from those outlets. In some cases, the ads appear to misrepresent the context of coverage that appeared in the Post-Dispatch.
