Does Dem AG Want to Send NY into a Dark Age?

What is it with people these days?  It appears that New York’s latest Cuomo is interested more in sowing fear to get his name in the papers, than looking for solutions to a looming problem for all New Yorkers.  Sure the best way to get news, and leverage in this day and age is to be against something – almost viscerally.  But from a management side of things, all Mr. Cuomo is doing is bringing problems to the table – not solutions.  The Cuomo name has been against nuke energy for sometime – check out papa Mario’s position on nuke energy here, and then a possible change of heart here.  At least we see that A.G. Cuomo’s position isn’t a new one – in fact it appears that his opposition is hard wired into his brain.  From the New York Post:

Does state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo want to send New York into a literal dark age?

The AG, among others, was up in arms last week over a report commissioned by Entergy Nuclear – the owner of the Indian Point nuclear power plant in Westchester – that concluded that the greenhouse-gas-free source of New York’s juice was, indeed, safe.

“It’s no surprise that Entergy’s panel of paid consultants has turned a blind eye to the unacceptable risks posed by Indian Point,” Cuomo huffed.

Cuomo, of course, has been trying to get the plant closed for more than a year now – playing upon apocalyptic fears of environmental destruction or terrorist attack.

But as far as “unacceptable risks” go, how about this one: What happens to New York if there isn’t enough juice to meet demand?

Indian Point can generate 2,000 megawatts of electricity; it accounts for anywhere between 18 and 38 percent of New York City’s daily juice, depending on the time of year.

The city can’t afford to lose that kind of power – not without rolling blackouts and sky-high energy-bill spikes. Even with Indian Point, New York’s future needs far outpace projected generation.

Unfortunately for us, Mr. Cuomo lacks a big issue upon which to seek the statehouse. He also lacks a regional base constituency, having frittered his local connections away in Wash DC.

He is strapped for a core group, to boost him in a NYS Democratic primary, where Senator Hil looks to be also running.

The answer? Seek the 8000+ blok votes in the antinuke fringe groups’ mailing lists. It worked for John Hall. Mr. Cuomo’s only lack then, is a rock album, to bring in the fuzz-head vote.

Lacking that, he bashes the non existent “Nuke Monster” with pre-cooked nutball boilerplate, enslaved & beholden to an email list, and a hysterical agitprop script, written way , way outside New York State.

    Totally pathetic, …and….irrelevant.
His Daddy, he is definitely not.
Nor is he anybody’s savior, (not even his own).
