Looks like the candidate from no where, Molly Williams, had the desired impact of siphoning off just enough votes to ensure a Chris Koster primary victory – and she did it all w/out asking for a single contribution it appears. From the News-Leader:
Democratic attorney general candidate Margaret Donnelly is refusing to concede the primary election to Sen. Chris Koster, who declared victory late Tuesday with an 852-vote lead.
She may seek a recount.
Donnelly, a state representative from St. Louis County, was unwilling to acknowledge Koster’s apparent win on Wednesday, saying her campaign is waiting for the Secretary of State’s office to certify the ballot.
“We know that there are still over 500 votes that have not been counted in St. Louis County,” Donnelly said in a statement.
“And while we are not aware of similar situations elsewhere, we have not had the time to investigate other election jurisdictions. After certification we will weigh our options, including asking for a recount.”
Koster claimed victory late Tuesday night after results showed him winning the Democratic primary 118,589 to Donnelly’s 117,737 votes.
