Why are you reading stories like this? Because Ohio’s Democrat Governor is handing out jobs to Republican candidates and incumbents in battleground legislative races – to clear the field for his Democrat candidates. From Ohio Daily Blog:
The Republican Party has picked a relatively little-known replacement for State Sen. Bob Spada (R-Strongsville) to run against labor management coordinator Matt Patten (D) in the 18th Ohio House District, now that Spada has dropped out to accept a position in state government offered by Gov. Ted Strickland. The choice is State Board of Education member Colleen Grady (R-Strongsville). With this as an open seat, the contest goes high up on the list of Democratic pickup opportunities.
And in House District 28:
There is great news from Hamilton County about a key targeted House race. USAF veteran and attorney Connie Pillich (D-Montgomery) nearly defeated State Rep. Jim Raussen (R-Sprindale) in 2006, and she received a huge boost a few weeks ago when Raussen dropped his re-election bid to accept a position in state government offered by Gov. Strickland.
