IN: Democrat AG Candidate Plays Politics of Gas Prices

Campaigning for A.G. in any state should require more than just political grandstanding and trying to get headlines that aren’t related to the actual job of attorney general.  Deputy A.G., and Republican nominee Greg Zoeller has the experience Hoosiers need to protect and lead Indiana.  From Journal Gazette:

Democrat Linda Pence said if she is elected, she would probe why Indiana’s gas prices are surpassed only by Illinois and the remote states of Alaska and Hawaii. Her opponent, Republican Greg Zoeller, accused Pence of “playing politics.” Incumbent Republican Steve Carter, who isn’t seeking re-election, maintains his office is already vigilant in investigating gas-price gouging.

Perhaps. But anyone driving to Michigan or Ohio knows Indiana’s gas prices are higher and wonders why. And there is a line between legitimate competition and price-fixing. There are enough questions about whether gasoline pricing practices cross that line that somebody should look into it.
Should that be the attorney general?
