TN: Paper – Democrats Invalidating Election Sets Precedent

From the Commercial Appeal:

If political parties are going to use allegations of crossover voting as a rationale to void election results, one of two things needs to happen.

Either state law should be changed so citizens are required to register by party affiliation in order to participate in primaries or else primaries ought to be eliminated altogether.

It’s a waste of taxpayer money to hold elections that really don’t carry any weight. And voters are less likely to participate in future elections if they’re not sure their votes will be allowed to count.

Of course, an even better solution would be to legally bind political parties to accept the results of primary elections, absent any clear evidence of fraud or voting errors. After all, isn’t that how democracy is supposed to work?
