From Hattiesburg American:
A candidate running from the Southern District for a seat on the state Supreme Court adamantly denied Monday that he had commissioned a telephone survey that some characterized as a negative “push poll.”
Meanwhile, Attorney General Jim Hood’s office said it is investigating dirty political tricks in the state Supreme Court races.
Chancery Judge Randy “Bubba” Pierce of Leakesville, who is challenging Supreme Court Justice Oliver Diaz Jr., said he had nothing to do with the poll.
“It is not from our campaign,” said Pierce, a former state legislator who was appointed to the bench by Gov. Haley Barbour. “I do not believe in that kind of campaigning, that kind of negativity. It did not come from this campaign, and it will not come from this campaign.”
