From The Huntsville Times:
Secretary of State Beth Chapman agreed Thursday to give the Alabama Democratic and Republican parties updated voter lists as part of a settlement reached in Montgomery County Circuit Court.
In an unrelated voting issue, the state’s Administrative Office of Courts has told courthouses statewide that Gov. Bob Riley’s office issued incorrect guidelines on which ex-cons are eligible to vote.
The Democratic Party sued Chapman after she had refused to give the party a second voter list this year, saying that she would have to charge the party 1 cent for each of the state’s more than 2.94 million registered voters on the list, or more than $29,000.
